Welcome to Cherry Class and the exciting start to your time at Booth Wood Primary School. We are looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Back.

The children have all settled well into the routines of Cherry Class. We are  extremely proud of the fantastic start they have made at school.

The children will continue to self-register by finding their named pebble and putting it into a pot, to find their peg and hang up their coat, to put their book bags in their drawer  and then choose an activity to undertake. They really are very good at this now and need very little help. thank you for your support in developing this independence.

At the end of the school day we will let the children out as we see parents/carers.  If your child is being collected by someone else please let us know.

Home work

  • Please read with your child every day. Even a few minutes each day really does make a difference.
  • Use the phonics cards to practise letter sound correspondence. Hold up the cards in turn and ask your child what sound each letter makes.
  • Practise reading or building words using the sound cards.
  • Use the Maths games to develop skill in counting and using numbers.
  • Additional challenges will be added to Tapestry.

We have PE with our Sports Coach Mr Wolfe on Tuesday mornings. Please ensure your child has suitable, named indoor and outdoor PE kit in school.

The children are enjoying PE lessons with Mr Wolfe. This half term PE will be Gymnastics. There will be a continued focus on team work and the importance of working together.

Forest School

Forest school is an inspirational process that offers everybody the opportunity to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands on learning experiences in our on-site woodland. Our Forest School sessions are on Friday mornings.

Thank you to Staff Sgt Dan and JJ the army dog who helped us understand why we wear poppies
