Letter from the Chair

Report of the Chair of Governors 30th January 2018

So far this term I have attended training on Safer Recruitment and the Data Protection Act.  I also attended the Spring Term Chair of Governors’ meeting.

The Safer Recruitment training was a full day course which included the identification of the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people.  It considered policies and practice that minimise opportunities for abuse ensuring prompt reporting and helped schools to review policies and practice.

The Data Protection training mainly concerned the steps schools should take to ensure compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation.  We will need to discuss this in greater detail when Mrs Harvey and Mrs Horsfield have completed their training.

The agenda for the Chairs’ meeting included Anti-Bullying and Awareness in schools, Leicestershire Schools Music Service and Strategic Vision.

Mrs Harvey and I have met to discuss the new governor checklist, attendance, the Forest Schools Programme and Behaviour Management training for all staff.

Finally I wish to inform the governors that I shall be away from 20th February to 30th March. During this time I am grateful to Ms Bambrough who will meet with Mrs Harvey in my place.
