Letter from the Chair

Kay Hughes, Chair of Governors

I have now been Chair of Booth Wood for three years, and have enjoyed working with the school enormously. Having taught at Booth Wood for seventeen years, it has been fantastic to see Booth Wood go from strength to strength.

I was educated at Hathern Primary School and Loughborough Girls' High School and did my teaching qualifications at Chester College. I taught at Oxley Primary School at Shepshed for six years and then left to have my two daughters.

I ran the local toddler group for four years, and then returned to teaching part time at Hathern School, followed by Rendell, Rosebery and, finally, Booth Wood.

Now, I enjoy looking after my grandchildren, swimming, being a member of the local Historical Society and continuing my very happy association with Booth Wood. I have known Mrs. Harvey since we taught together, and consider myself very fortunate to work with such an inspirational Headteacher, who, with her hardworking staff, strives to ensure that the children get the very best and most enjoyable education possible.

One of my great pleasures is to talk to past pupils and parents, hearing of their successes.

The role of the Governors is to see that your children are being educated well, and we do our utmost to support the school in this. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you need to. Our Parent Governors are available at the end of the school day also.
