Our topic this term is:

Superheroes

We are also going to be looking at some fantastic superhero stories, such as: ‘Super Daisy and the peril of Planet Pea’, ‘Superhero ABC’ and ‘Charlie’s Superhero Underpants’, comic strips and the use of speech bubbles. We are also going to be learning about real life superheroes and people who help us, such as the emergency services.

In History we are going to be looking at historical heroes and heroines, such as Florence Nightingale!

In Science we are going to be learning about superhero senses and our own human bodies.

We have got so many fantastic and exciting things planned; it’s going to be a wonderful first term!

Things to do at home

  • Please continue to read at home, a few minutes every day really does make a difference.
  • Practise reading and writing the Red Words.
  • Find opportunities to count and recognise numbers when out and about.

PE

We have PE every Friday morning. Please ensure your child has a suitable, named indoor and outdoor PE kit in school.

Things you will need

  • Spare clothes to have in school at all times.
  • Book bags - these should have your child's reading record inside with their current reading book. These need to be in school every day.
  • PE kit - season appropriate please.

Please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled with your child's name so that we can try our best to return any items if lost.

Finally...

Our door is always open if you need to discuss anything or simply want to find out more please talk to us.

Counting games:

Helping your child with their number recognition and 1:1 counting can really make a difference.

ICT games:

Play these fun games with your child: patterns, sorting, shape recognition, music, PSED and counting.
