Our work from home

Despite us working from home, Year 3 have produced some amazing pieces of work.

World Book Day

Poetry for Talent Show

In our maths we have been learning how to multiply one digit numbers by two digit numbers. We have also been learning to divide two digit numbers by one digit numbers.

In our English lessons we have been learning about different countries around the world and then deciding which one we would like to live in. We also have been practising our researching skills by using the internet and reading ebooks.

Here is a presentation on Australia.

We have finally finished our non-chronological reports on places around the world we would like to live in. Here are some below.

In art we have been working on our sketching skills. Here are some fantastic Sonic drawings!

This week we have sketched trains! They are fantastic.

Each week Year 3 have a challenge where the whole family can get involved. The first one was the Teabag Challenge! Here is the winning video.

We also had a Booth Wood Bake Off challenge. Here are some of the entries.

In our English lesson we learnt about Brazil and the type of food which is eaten there. One of the children in our class decided to have a go at a recipe we found in an ebook.

In science we are learning about magnets and forces. We have seen some super work so far. The children have enjoyed exploring their houses to see what is magnetic.

We have been learning about programming a Sphero. Some of the children have sent in their videos of them running a code which they created themselves.

New Home Learning Timetable

I have emailed all parents so they can have their own copy of the timetable. I will also put the file on here so you can see there will now be four Zoom calls a day. Some children who have intervention sessions will have an additional call too. This is to make sure we all make good progress and the learning is sustained throughout this period.

Introducing Class Dojo: our home learning reward system where the class can earn points and win prizes for completing their work! We have used this in class since the beginning of term so the children are familiar with this. Your child will find their app on their iPad and will be rewarded with points for completing their English, Maths, afternoon tasks and participating in the Zoom calls. Children also have the opportunity to earn extra points during lessons and through spelling tests. Additional points will be awarded to children for going over and above with their school work. There is a school totaliser which will be released on Monday 11th January where you can see how the whole school is getting on. ⭐️ The target is for the whole school to reach 100,000 points by half term ⭐️ IF this target is reached, then Mrs Harvey will reward us with a Year 2 pizza party! There will also be a prize for the child who gets the most points in each class.
