Letter from Mrs Harvey


Dear parents / guardians,

I can hardly believe we are at the end of the official summer term. To say it has been extraordinary would be an understatement. Pupils, parents and staff have had to learn to adjust to a completely different way of living, to accept a ‘new normal’ and all the restrictions that that entails.

I would like to thank you for your continued support and for your many kind comments. We will be working tirelessly over the summer to ensure our school is ready for all children to return; further details will be made available to you nearer the time.

New Risk Assessment:

We have written a new risk assessment detailing main changes from the start of the Autumn term. This is available on our school website under ‘Latest News.’ Please read it carefully as it details how we are keeping your children and our staff safe. A few key details are below:

Start times and end times:

To keep everyone safe, we are staggering the start and end times for each year group and they are as follows:

Cherry Class: 8.40am – 3.05pm (enter premises via the top gate)

Year 1: 8.40am- 3.10pm (enter premises via bottom gate)

Year 2: 8.40am- 3.10pm (enter premises via top gate)

Year 3: 8.45am- 3.15pm (enter premises via top gate)

Year 4A: 8.50am- 3.20pm (enter premises via top gate)

Year 4B: 8.50am- 3.20pm (enter premises via bottom gate)

Year 5: 8.35am- 3.25pm (enter premises via bottom gate)

Year 6: 8.30am – 3.30pm (enter premises via bottom gate)

Please note, it is imperative that your child / children arrive and leave PROMPTLY at their allotted time.

Changes during the school day:

Every child in Years 1-6 will be given an individual pack of school items in a transparent zipped pocket. They will each receive pens, crayons, scissors, rulers, rubbers etc (these items are age dependent). This will minimise excessive movement around the class.


Please check your child’s class information on the website for their allotted P.E. days. Please note, as they will not be allowed to change into their PE kits, children should come to school in suitable PE clothing and training shoes on those days ONLY.

School lunches:

Our school lunches have changed. As you were informed back in February (seems a long time ago now) we will be cooking all our food on site. We have a superb contractor, Coombs, and I know you will be delighted with the range and quality of the food that will be on offer. Due to Covid 19, each class will eat their lunch with their own year group. They will have an allocated time in the hall and their meals will be served to them at their table by our staff. Once they have finished their lunch they will go outside (as a class) into their own zoned play area. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds so we are able to zone off areas for every year group. Please look out for the new menus which will be on ParentPay before we return.

Breakfast and After School provision:

Several parents have already booked their children in to these clubs. As pre-booking is now essential, if you require a place please telephone the school office on Monday 24th August or Tuesday 25th August 9am-3pm so we can ensure your child’s safety. Children will be grouped into their own year groups for both clubs.


Mrs Dawes and I would like to wish Year 6 every success and happiness for the future. It is sad that we were unable to give them a true Booth Wood send-off but I’m sure they all enjoyed their socially distanced presentation morning and lunch.

Have a lovely summer break and I look forward to seeing everyone back in school on WEDNESDAY August 26th 2020.
