As part of our literacy, we look at lots of different texts to support our learning. Please find below the books that we have used in class so far.
Duck in a Truck by Jez Alborough
We enjoyed talking about how we could rescue Duck's truck and thought carefully about the characters in the story.
If you would like to listen to and watch the story, please use the following link:
Super Duck by Jez Alborough
This is a rhyming text which helped us learn to hear and generate rhymes. We also thought about story structure, including describing the characters, setting and main events.
Here is a link for the story of Super Duck!
We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen
We really enjoyed sharing this story, especially joining in with the repeated text and the descriptive language. If you would like to share the story at home, the following link will take you to the author, Michael Rosen, reading the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gyI6ykDwds
The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
The Gruffalo is one of our favourite stories! We practised using story language in the woods to retell the story and had a go at creating our own story maps. In class we have also watched a short film of the story, which you can share at home using the link below.
Stick Man by Julia Donaldson
Another fantastic story by Julia Donaldson! We have produced some super writing based around Stick Man - he even came to visit us in the woods! The story is available for you to watch on iPlayer using the following link:
Beegu By Alexis Deacon
We enjoyed sharing Beegu's story and learning about our solar system. Our literacy involved designing a new friend for Beegu and thinking about Beegu's feelings. You can enjoy this story at home by following the link below.
We're going on an Egg Hunt
We finished off the Spring term with this lovely Easter story, which you can read along with using this link:
