Special Learning Days

Throughout the year, there will be a number of special occasions and celebrations that we will think about in Reception. These will be shared here for you to see what we have been doing in class.

Roald Dahl Day - 13th September 2021

Today we thought about the fabulous children's author, Roald Dahl. There were some great character costumes in class and we enjoyed lots of exciting activities based on Roald Dahl's story 'The Enormous Crocodile'.

Diwali - 28th October 2021

We enjoyed lots of activities based around the celebration of Diwali, including sharing the story of Rama and Sita, learning how people celebrate Diwali, making our own Rangoli patterns, dancing and eating samosas!

Gruffalo Day - 19th November 2021

To finish off our learning on 'The Gruffalo', we enjoyed a special Gruffalo themed day in the woods! This included lots of activities and challenges linked to the story, such as making clay gruffalos using a range of resources, a gruffalo hunt and making delicious gruffalo crumble which we enjoyed eating around the campfire!

World Book Day - 3rd March 2022

A fabulous day in Reception class! We enjoyed talking about why we celebrate World Book Day and our favourite books. There were some fantastic costumes too!

Stonehurst Farm Trip - 5th April 2022
