Carrying on with our poetry unit, this week we learnt about haiku poems. They originated in Japan and consist of 3 lines; the top line 1 with 5 syllables, the middle with 7 and the bottom with 5. We learnt how to count syllables in words (and our names!) and had a go at writing our own haikus.
This week we focused on 4-digit column subtraction. We have been remembering what to do when we need to exchange 1s, 10s, 100s or 1000s. It can be a little bit tricky, so we used place value counters to help us. We will be continuing with this uni after half term.
We have been studying the Austrian artist Hundertwasser. His style of painting was very unique. He preferred using lots of bold colours, uneven lines and often made his own paints. We created our own paintings inspired by his style.
This week we listened to Queen and three of their songs;
We Will Rock You
Somebody To Love
